The Brand New IMA Komomo SF125 MRD…..
Ever since its launch as the first product from IMA in 1998 the Komomo SF125 must be in the top 5 most popular of the entire IMA range. Not without good reason either, at 125mm and 16g coupled with the nice rolling action under even the slowest retrieve the SF125 has been responsible for many good fish being caught.

After an extremely good run, October 2022 sees the launch of a brand new model SF125, we have decided to differentiate the new model by adding MRD to it's name - you'll see why very soon.
Whilst looking almost the same in profile, it is still 125mm and the weight has increased to 18g - there are 3 major changes for the new model.

MRD - developed by IMA and proving to make a difference to many models already, the centre of gravity movement system developed by IMA is understood and proven by many users to aid the casting ability/stability as well as allowing the lure to settle very quickly after casting and starting to work effectively almost immediately. It works on a very simple principle shown in the diagram below - in simple words, in its neutral position the weight is held in place (at the front) by a magnet. When casting, the inertia of this action forces the weight to slide to the rear against another magnet. Once the inertia of casting has stopped the weight is forced back to the front of the lure as in fact in the rear position the magnetic poles are two similar poles and therefore repel each other.

Concave Head - with the newly designed head having a concave shape the designers feel they have made this new model able to start performing properly almost immediately it hits the water…this is taken from the IMA Japan website news article
"The new komomo bites into the water from the moment it hits the water and drifts straight into the drift without ever floating, so you can start the game immediately after landing without wasting even 0.5 seconds. The head shape has changed and the water biting has improved, which has solved the problem of "I don't know if I'm doing the action properly even if I'm winding komomo". - IMA Pro Staff Kunihiko Hamamoto

New Diving Depth - the new model is rated to swim at 5-50cm compared to the old model specification of 10-30cm. With this new range it is considered that the SF125 MRD will be successful in enticing more takes now especially with the increase in depth. Whilst this may seem an odd thing to do and call it the same name it should be noted the way that the developers see things - it is very apparent that their concept is that the diving range is exactly that, a range. The end user should be using their IMAgination and their rod to achieve the depth they wish or need to fish at within that range…..
New Colours….the final update is the introduction of some very interesting new colours for this model - I definitely have two firm favourites amongst them but I am pretty sure they will all prove extremely popular check them out here https://www.highstreettackle.co.uk/ima-komomo-sf125-mrd-5116-p.asp
