Seriola Sportfishing 09/05

Seriola Sportfishing 09/05

After an incredible lack of sleep yesterday I left home for yesterdays trip out of Falmouth aboard Seriola with Gary Thomas and a bunch of friends that happen to be extremely good fisherman….Having driven to the secret rendezvous point through a lot of fog, got picked up and continued the journey west through more fog it was looking pretty murky on arrival.

We departed on time and with a change on the forecast wind speed and direction we headed through some quite sporty water to the first mark.

Fish started to appear quite quickly with some good bass and pollock….as often happens though the change of tide meant that the fishing slowed, but as usual Gary knows what to do and where to go and moved us on to the next mark.

He continued to work hard all day long making sure that the action continued for everybody.

It was hard work at times as the bass especially were extremely finicky about their feeding and without a doubt pretty much the only lure that was a continued/guaranteed catcher was either the Fiiish Crazy Paddletail or Sandeel in the Size 2 120mm size. Anything else that we tried resulted in no bass and having to change back again to the trusty Paddletail.

The highlight of the day for me was to improve on my awful performance last week (the only person to blank!) and got off the mark for this with some pollock and bass….

The rod of the day undoubtedly was Justin Lascelles, who definitely saw more fish than anybody else on board.

As was expected the day was long, hard work and there were some excellent laughs! With the way the weather improved it was nice to sit down for the long journey home in the bright warm sunshine that we have waited so long for.

Gary worked extremely hard as he always does making the lack of sleep and long drive so worthwhile. Him and his boat Seriola Sportfishing should definitely be on your list if you enjoy lure fishing from a boat.
